AGM : Important Information

Good afternoon SARA Families,

We are pleased to announce that our Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be taking place on Wednesday May 26, 2021 at 7:00pm, via zoom.

The St. Albert Ringette Association cannot function without volunteers. Without volunteers, we would not have coaches, managers, board members, or a viable association. All members in good standing* can nominate themselves or other members (aged 18+). The returning SARA Board is excited at the prospect of new joining members that can bring fresh ideas, new energy, and positive, can-do frames of mind!

While there continues to be some unknowns when it comes to planning for the 2021/2022 season, the SARA Board is committed to working hard on a return to play for our athletes, within the parameters set forth by Ringette Alberta, Ringette Canada, and AHS.

As per our current Bylaws, only members in good standing* will be entitled to a vote at the meeting. As such, attendance to this year’s AGM will be limited to SARA members from the 2020/2021 season. To facilitate this requirement, PREREGISTRATION IS REQUIRED no later than 12 pm on Tuesday May 25, 2021. Registration requests will be validated against the 2020/2021 registration system. Each guardian of players under 18 can attend and vote, but must do so from separate devices, with separate email addresses. Players and Non-Parent Coaches, 18 years of age or older, can also register and vote at the AGM.

The AGM will provide our members with an overview of the work that was taken on by the SARA Board this past season (2020/2021).

The nomination period will close on May 19, 2021. Winners by acclamation will be declared for all uncontested positions. Any positions not yet filled, will be carried over to the Annual General Meeting, and a call for nominations will be made from the floor. (Bylaws Section 7.2)

*members in good standing definition as per Bylaw 3.5 reads: A Member of the Association will be in good standing provided that the Member:

Owes no outstanding Membership dues, participant fees, or other debts to the association.
Has not ceased to be a Member.
Has not been suspended or had their membership cancelled or had other Membership restrictions or sanction imposed,
Has complied with all the Bylaws, policies, rules, and operating procedures of the Association, and if subject to a disciplinary action previously, has fulfilled all terms and conditions of such disciplinary action to the satisfaction of the Association.
