What is required of me as a Director or Coordinator?
You asked, and we're answering! Some of our SARA Members have asked about what the general requirements and responsibilities are of SARA Directors and Coordinators. Below is a non-exhaustive list. Where applicable, we have highlighted specific responsibilities of different roles (Director, Division Coordinator, Coordinator). SARA Directors and Coordinators:
- Shall be a mature self starter with patience, common sense, and self-control (18+ member in good standing);
- Are Representatives of the St. Albert Ringette Association, and shall act accordingly including confidentiality when required;
- Shall participate in the SARA screening policy as required;
- Shall check emails and respond in a timely fashion. Complete duties and tasks as required;
- Must be able to liaise well with the SARA Board, fellow Coordinators, Team Staff, Parents, Athletes, and Officials. Be respectful of all volunteers and be a team player;
- Experience is not required for all positions, however, they must be open minded and able to accept guidance and direction as needed;
- Directors (elected) shall endeavor to attend all meetings of the Board;
- Division Coordinators (appointed) shall represent their division at meetings as required. Board Meeting and AGM attendance is encouraged, but not mandatory, unless at the request of the Board;
- Coordinators (appointed): Board Meeting and AGM attendance is encouraged, but not mandatory, unless at the request of the Board;
- Shall familiarize themselves with the SARA Bylaws and Policies;
- Division Coordinators shall assist and/or recruit volunteers to assist with planning and event-day operations during their division’s events (ie. U12C Black Championships, U10S2 Windup, etc.);
- Division Coordinators shall provide guidance to SARA Members within their Division as required throughout the season;
- Shall encourage volunteerism from the Membership throughout the season, and promote open Board Positions leading up to the AGM;
- Division Coordinators shall verify that all Team Staff (Coaches, Team Managers, etc.) have the required coach/manager/trainer courses and qualifications before the deadline;
- Division Coordinators shall confirm that all Team Staff (except Managers) have uploaded their Criminal Record Checks to RAMP before the deadline;
- Division Coordinators shall attend and coordinate evaluations of their division, assist with UAA (if applicable), evaluation data tracking, team formation, and assist the Evaluations Director(s) and Board as needed;
- Division Coordinators shall positively communicate with the SARA Board and Teams in your division through email and phone as required throughout the season;
- Division Coordinators shall communicate with teams as needed throughout the season at the request of BGL Representative.
The SARA AGM will be hosted on June 22, 2022 at 7pm via ZOOM, and is open to all SARA members in good standing. Please keep an eye out on your emails, our social media channels, and website for more information as it comes available, including the link to register, and supporting documents including the agenda.
