SARA invited the Peace River Association to a team scrimmage event over the Family Day long weekend.
The players and their families got to experience an action packed National Ringette League game between the Edmonton Black Gold RUSH and the Calgary RATH Saturday night.
On Sunday, the teams participated in two ice times. For the first ice time, Dan held a fun "Olympic event" practice with all the players and coaches.
We then came together for a group lunch with all the kids and parents from St. Albert and Peace River. For the second ice time, the players were were split up into a couple small teams and we held a fun scrimmage to end the day.
Opportunities like these are important to help grow our sport in smaller communities, where they may not get the chance to compete in regular tournaments. Feedback from both kids and parents was positive and we think it went very well.
Thanks to Ryan Bodnarchuk for inviting the Peace River ringette team and organizing the event! And a big thank you to Mighty Peace Ringette for travelling to St. Albert for a fun weekend of ringette, learning, and new friends!
